A Quilt

I must be tired, I cannot even come up with a good name for this post.
Maybe they should all just be numbered.
That would be easy.

Before I left for Colorado, I went on a quilt shop hop and got a pattern and a bunch of
batik charm squares.
I was able to piece the front before I left and I was almost through with the back.
I had great intentions of finishing and quilting this baby quilt while I was gone.
It did not happen.
Not even close.

So, this last Sunday at quilt class, I was able to put this together and get it quilted.
I had to sandwich the batting together and do a pillow case turn to get it done.
I thought the back was bigger when I made it but it was not. It was about a quarter of
an inch smaller than the front.
It's okay. I got to learn a new way of sandwiching a quilt.
And it worked. :-)

After it was turned the correct way, I hand sewed the edge closed and then quilted it.
This is for a friends grandbaby and I wanted it a little modern and funky on the sewing.
There is a wonky circle in each of the squares,
a small circle in each intersection,
and the edge has a squiggle and then a 1/4 inch around the edge.
I was very pleased with the fun quilting and hope that my friend likes it.
I am still amazed at how much I am loving all this sewing.

Fun Valley Colorado

I took my daughter and ran away to Colorado for 2 weeks.
I always wait till the local kids go back to school and then leave.
Why? Because I can. That is why I home school. lol

We headed to South Fork, Colorado to Fun Valley.
FV is a family campground that has been around since 1959.
Several of the people there have been going every year since it opened.
It is not surprising to hear someone say they have been going there
every year for 30, 38, 42 years.... Wow.
This is only our 3rd trip so far.

I really enjoy the quiet, easy pace of just hanging out at my campsite.
 Not a bad view.

There is quite a bit to do with out ever leaving the park.
Putt Putt.... paddle boating....bike riding...horse back riding...berry picking...on and on.
For the most part there is fishing.
Lots and lots of fishing.

Years ago the Rio Grande was siphoned to fill up several ponds in Fun Valley.
It makes for a beautiful place to visit but a better place to fish.
I don't fish....
But it is fun to watch everyone else fish. And fish, and fish........

One of our favorite activities is going to the Snack Shack.
There you can get a killer burger.
Our favorite is actually the ice cream.
We have one almost every day. lol

We spent 8 days here and headed back home to reality.
It is a sad thing that reality does not include living in Colorado.

549/275

549 blog posts to sort through and read...
275 emails waiting for me.

I am back from Colorado and way behind.
:-)

School starts on Monday for my daughter.
I still only have half of the curriculum.
Photos are still on the camera.
I am not quite prepared for a blog right now.

Soon though, I will be.
I promise. lol

New TV

We have a new toy and I am not sure if we like it.
A friend gave us a flat screen tv when he upgraded.
I have gone from a 19in tv to a 27in flatscreen.
The picture is kinda funky and very close.
I do have a very small living room.

Dh and I spent the day building a frame to mount the tv.
A little saw time,
a little drill time
and a little pull our hair out time...
Yes, that is another 2x4.
(Somehow we did not think about the offset of the brace when we installed the first one)

and it is done.

Mounted and ready to go.
Now all we have to do is to get a dvd player.
The old one died on us. Sigh....

Blog Hop Day 2

This is why I can do stuff like this.
Yes, I live in a 40 ft rv all the time.
But this is Tex. My toy.
I would say "our" toy but hubs does not get to enjoy him as much as me.

Tex is good for day trips to town to bring ice cream back, and weekends
to town to go to church. He is even better for August trips to Colorado
with my daughter. :-)

So the second day of the blog hop I had to start here.
The most important stop of the day.

Prescott, Az is where I normally do my quilt shopping so I was
very familiar with the shops.
Inexpensive Warm and Natural is available here.
Cloth Plus is a strange little store. More warehouse than "store"
but they have a wonderful selection of goods.
They just got in a bunch of Christmas flannel that I need to buy.
Soon...

Across the highway is Quilt and Sew Connection.
 I love this store.
Wonderful selection, great employees.
I plan to take a tree skirt class with them this fall.
I am excited.
240 miles so far.

My last stop was a given.
There is no way to go to town without stopping here for something.
Yeah, Wally World.
I needed some plastic drawers to put in my closet to hold
all my fat quarters. :-)

I finally made it home with a total of 375.1 miles on the odometer.
I don't regret going but I am not sure if I would do it again.
At least not without a friend along.
