Making changes

How do you decide to make major changes in your life?
Do you jump in and just do it?
Do you make detailed plans and then execute them?
Do you make plans and then NOT execute them?
Do you find that a year later nothing has changed?

I would like to leave here someday.
Okay, I would have liked to leave here about 3.5 years ago, but..
The economy stinks, the jobs don't exist, we make too much money...
Yeah, yeah, ... I know.
I still want to leave.

So, how can we make the changes needed to leave here?
How can we make the money we need to live on, away from here
Can we restart our craft business?
I used to paint.

Can we restart another craft type business?
Wholesale rather than retail.
Online rather than in person....
Can I do something with my quilting?
Can I take my digital scrapbook program and figure out some
way to design...something?...and make money?
The questions just beg to be answered, or at least asked...

Missy.... contemplating change with no answers in sight.

Bus vs. Elk

One of the best things we have experienced since being here at the Grand Canyon
is the contact, almost daily, with wild life.
We get deer and elk that wander through the yard.

We have coyotes that serenade us nightly.
The birds are amazing and sometimes we find other critters.
Sometimes though there is the....
how shall we say????
Collision.
Yep, that's it.
Collision
Usually the animal does not fare so well.
The vehicle never fares well.

The other day a shuttle bus had such an encounter.

The elk walked off, much to the chagrin of the Rangers
who claimed they already had the grills fired up.
The bus hobbled back to the yard.

Never a dull moment up here.
Nix that.
Most of the moments are dull with just a
little excitement sprinkled in.

It has a flannel pieced back.
And it is not warm enough for our winters. lol

May I introduce ...Emili

One month ago my husbands second daughter had a baby.
She was named Emili.
In order to welcome her to the family in the right way,
I needed to make her a quilt.

The twins have quilts,
The eldest grand son has a quilt.
Sort of.
It is at the long arm quilter but he will eventually get it.

So, here is Emili, for Emili.
I hope it will warm her soul for many years.

I really enjoy taking the quilts to the Rim.
There is just something fun about going to the edge and remembering
why we are here.

I also enjoy the funny looks we get when we take the pictures.

Not many people come to the Grand Canyon in order to
see a crazy lady and her daughter doing a quilt shoot.
The pattern for this quilt came from here
I saw it on her blog and knew it would be perfect.

Spring...finally

Spring is finally here.
We actually hit 75 today.
It is strange that Spring does not arrive till May.
I am accustomed to it coming along in February or maybe March.
I will take it, no matter when it arrives.
Even if we are due more snow next week.

Einsteins Bagels

 I love Einstein's Bagels.
The only time we get them is when we go down to the valley.
250 or so miles for good food...
We are becoming adjusted to that.

I love a weird sense of humor.
Einstein's has it.
This was our bathroom decor.
It is important to know that the thrown awaits.
But this is much more important.
You always need to be aware of the acoustics.
